Software Engineer Mid-Level (m/f/d)
— join our team.

At systaro, we build custom software for our customers — and you're part of it from the first requirement all the way to live rollout. Code, architecture, reviews, release. You shape things, you don't just close tickets.

100% Home Office 32–40 hours / week European time zone Permanent contract Fluent English · German a plus

/About the role

In this role you're not just writing code — you're shaping things. From the first conversation with customers, through architecture decisions, to rollout and operations. We believe software gets better when the person who builds it also understands what it's for — and sticks around until it really works.

What you'll do

  • Involved from the startYou don't pick up finished tickets — you help understand the problem, sketch solutions, and design the architecture.
  • Features end-to-endYou build features across the entire stack — backend, frontend, database, tests. Where you focus, we figure out together.
  • Shape the architectureTech stack, patterns, trade-offs — we make these decisions together, we don't dictate them from above.
  • Code reviewsYou review code from colleagues and get feedback yourself. Constructive, thorough — always with the goal of making the product better.
  • Direct customer contactYou talk to the people you're building software for. Clarify requirements, show demos, gather feedback.
  • All the way to rollout — and beyondDeployment, monitoring, first live learnings, refactoring. You stay on it until the feature really runs smoothly.

Your day-to-day

On standup days a shared start, then deep work on a feature. Around lunch a code review for a colleague, then a sparring session with a customer about a UX detail. Afternoon: refactoring a module that went live last week and is creating friction at one spot. No bullshit meetings, no endless refinements — just time where you actually build, and real control over your time around it.

Mon · Wed · Fri 08:15 – 09:00Team standup — a shared start to the day.
Daily 10:00 – 15:00Available for meetings, syncs and questions.
Otherwise FlexibleArrange your hours freely — Mon–Fri, European time zone.

We track our time — so you take vacation down to the minute. No rigid daily quota, just real flexibility for work and time off.

/Your profile

We're looking for someone with a few years of experience under their belt — enough to deliver independently, still hungry enough to learn new things. By the way: whether you have a degree or taught yourself everything — we look at your code, not your diploma.

  • 3+ years of experienceYou've shipped multiple projects in production. As a mid-level dev, you know the difference between "works on my laptop" and "runs 24/7 under load".
  • Depth in your main languageJava, TypeScript, Python, Go — whatever. What matters is that you really know how your language of choice ticks and can name its trade-offs.
  • Eye for detailHalf-baked solutions aren't your thing. Edge cases, error paths, meaningful variable names — these aren't annoying TODOs, they're part of the job.
  • Diligent & reliableWhat you start, you finish. If something takes longer than expected, you say so early — not just at release time.
  • Into the whole lifecycleYou don't just want to write software — you want to see how it lands. Architecture, code, release, operations. All of it interests you.
  • Fluent English, German a plusYou communicate confidently in English — in code reviews, calls, and across the team. German is a plus but not required.
Angular Java / Spring TypeScript Node.js PostgreSQL Different stack? Let's still talk.

Our main stack — but we believe more in solid engineering fundamentals than in specific frameworks. If you're at home in one world and open to new ones: you fit.
